The calm before the storm

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Thalia’s been settling down (more like hunkering down) lately, not kicking nearly as much as she used to. Don’t panic - the doc said that’s OK as long as her heartbeat is strong and she’s at least a little active. Both of those are true, so we’re fine.

Jo’s thinking Thalia is ready to go -ready to make her big debut some time in the next few weeks, and I think she’s right. Hey, why wouldn’t she be right? She’s mommy, she has those instincts. It’s why she gets to carry the baby and I just get to watch, coaching from the sidelines. And like any coach - superstar athlete relationship, she gets all the aches and pains, all the glory and perks; I just get bench blisters while prodding her on to the goal.

In the words of Peter Griffin (except in a totally innocent and non-gross way): now we play the waiting game.

…And we’re back

Okay, so after a long hiatus, I’ve figured out the problems I was having with the website and can fill y’all in on the gory details of the Coming of Thalia-Baby.

P1030028 A few weeks ago, the good folks from Joanna’ s workplace got together for her first baby shower. A good time was had by all (I just had to type that - how cliche). I’ve posted some pics of the shower on Flickr.com

As you can see, it’s a motley crew (or crue? not sure). The theme was “drinkin’ with baby”. Okay, not really but seriously - a good time was had by all. Well, except for the mom-to-be of course.

Jo is just 40 days out from giving birth, and Tom Petty was right - the waitin’ truly is the hardest part. Every day is tougher than the last for Joanna, who plans to work until her water breaks (if her spirit can make it that long).

Every day when I come home, I’m both elated to see her and Thalia and sad - because I know as soon as I say “hello” to Jo, Thalia will start kicking the hell out of her. Something about my voice, that’s what Joanna thinks. I’m fine with that. If that means she’s happy to hear me, then I’m happy.

That’s it for now - more posts this week, I promise!

Thalia Lynn Plew

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

It’s official - our baby’s name will be Thalia Lynn Plew. This should make shopping for custom monogrammed strollers and carriages much easier. Ugh - I just threw up a little in my mouth at the thought of monogrammed baby stuff.

Thanks everyone for your comments -we appreciate your input!
